Term Dates

The New Zealand school year is divided into four terms for state and state-integrated schools . 

We have some flexibility around our start and finish dates and the dates for Terms 2 and 3 are fixed, and set by the Ministry of Education (MOE).  To view the MOE guidelines for each school year, click here.

Each year our Board of Trustees sets the dates for the following school year based on information from the MOE who set the amount of days each school must be open for instruction.

2024 Term Dates

Term 1 - Tuesday 30 January from 12:30pm - Friday 12 April 

School closed on:

• Tuesday 6 February for Waitangi Day

• Friday 29 March for Good Friday

• Monday 1 April for Easter Monday

• Tuesday 2 April for the day after Easter Monday

• Monday 8 April for parent and teacher interviews

Term 2 - Monday 29 April - Friday 5 July 

School closed on:

• Friday 31 May for a teacher only day

• Monday 3 June for Kings' Birthday (observed)

• Friday 28 June for Matariki

Term 3 - Monday 22 July - Friday 27 September

Term 4 - Monday 14 October - Wednesday 18 December at 12 noon​

School closed on:

• Monday 21 October for parent and teacher interviews

• Monday 28 October for Labour Day

• Friday 15 November for Canterbury Show Day

Term 1 - Wednesday 29 January from 9am-12:45 pm - Friday 11 April      
(new entrant cohort entry days: Wednesday 29 January and Monday 3 March)

• Thursday 6 February for Waitangi Day

 

Term 2 - Monday 28 April - Friday 27 June    
(new entrant cohort entry days: Monday 28 April and Tuesday 3 June)

Term 3 - Monday 14 July - Friday 19 September
