Out of zone enrolments
Our School Board are not accepting out of zone enrolments, other than siblings of current out of zone students at our school. You can find a detailed map and description of our home zone in the 'in zone declaration form' on our enrolments page.
In the future, should our Board determine that we have space for enrolments from outside our zone, then we will advertise this in the Northern Outlook newspaper and also here on our website.
Process
The applications would be considered at a board meeting, and if there is a need to ballot, names of children will be drawn at this meeting. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.
The Education Act 1989 (the Act) provides the legislative framework under which a board of trustees may develop, implement and operate an enrolment scheme. The Education Amendment Act (No 3) 2010 has changed the requirements in s11F of the Act around the order of priority for applicants who live outside a school’s home zone. The new order of priority is as follows:
-
First priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school:
-
Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school:
-
Third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school:
-
Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school:
-
Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school:
-
Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
You can find more information about out of zone enrolments on the Ministry of Education website.
